I’m giving a talk next month at ICIDS about transmedia storytelling, including some of the reasons why its been difficult to form consensus around what the term means. And I thought it would be fun to assemble some specific reactions to the term.
Scene from a meeting earlier today:
Me: *says something about a story idea*
Reply: “Yeah, but they really only want a light narrative wrapper.”
Me: “The only narrative rapper I care about is Slick Rick!”
Sometime yesterday, my feed starting being deluged with links to essays about transmedia. “Wow! Is it 2009 again?,” I thought. Nope, but it turns out that Immerse picked up a blog post Andrea wrote last month and then asked a few people to write their responses. I haven’t seen so many people discussing their own definitions of transmedia since before we lost Brian Clark.
Check out smart people being smart about transmedia:
Part #2 of Who says pictures can’t be giffed, huh? 😉
Given that I’ve been getting some awesome feedback on the Episode 101: Postscript gif set I made, I’ve decided to gif another iconic transmedia moment in the Lizzie Bennet Diaries – the San Francisco tour. The times used were the ones I found on the respective Twitter accounts.
OMG this happened 2 years ago. One of my favourite experiences ever in the world of webseries. So glad to have experienced it “live”.
